Spring has arrived.  Along with the warmer weather comes seasonal allergies for many people.  A good nutritional program can be a wonderful help in conquering the allergies.  My favorite supplement is Alfalfa.

I was not sure how I would do on Alfalfa at first as I knew I had allergies to grass.   I was concerned about the ingestion of the amino acid l-canavanine found in alfalfa seeds and sprouts.  L-canavanine is found only in alfalfa seeds and young alfalfa plants to nurture the growing plant.  When the alfalfa plant reaches maturity and is ready for harvest this amino acid is no longer present.

Shaklee alfalfa tabs are mad from mature alfalfa plant cuttings and do not include alfalfa seeds or sprouts.  Shaklee alfalfa has been independently tested in the laboratory and found to be essentially free of the l-canavanine compound.  Shaklee has published this in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.   People who have trouble with alfalfa have been taking a product containing immature sprouts.

Another wonderful product for allergy protection is Shaklee’s Immunity Formula I.  It is a one-stop shop of immune support.  This product combines water-soluble (B and C) with fat soluble vitamins (Beta Carotene and E) with the minerals most required for immunocompetency (Zinc, Selenium, and Copper).

Allergy Prevention

Stay away from toxins.  Consider using Shaklee’s non toxic cleaning products.   Tylenol, Ibuprofin, Steroid, Birth Control Pills, Antacids and Sugars can all lead to sensitivities.  Things that we eat, drink and inhale can depress our immune system.
